FN&TT Fire Program

A structured, safety-forward pathway for dancers ready to explore fire artistry with intention, responsibility, and ritual awareness.

Program Overview

The FN&TT Fire Program is designed to guide dancers from cold-prop training to supervised light and, eventually, approved fire performance. This pathway emphasizes safety, technique, and personal readiness at every stage.

Fire is a powerful element — both creatively and energetically. Our program ensures dancers approach it with respect, grounding, and full understanding of the responsibilities involved.

The FN&TT Fire Program follows a four-level certification system. All participants must complete each level before advancing. No exceptions.

Prerequisites

Required before entering the Fire Pathway:

  • Foundations or equivalent belly dance experience
  • Fire Pathway Prep class (cold-prop training)
  • Understanding of basic safety protocols
  • Demonstrated control, awareness, and consistency in movement
  • Signed fire program waiver and consent forms

Cold-Prop Training

Before touching flame, dancers train with non-flammable props to build confidence, control, and muscle memory. This includes:

  • Grip, posture, and prop handling
  • Basic spins and pathways
  • Choreography integration
  • Emergency stop techniques

Cold-prop mastery is required before moving to supervised light.

Supervised Light

Once dancers demonstrate readiness, they may participate in supervised light sessions. These sessions are conducted with:

  • Certified Fire Safety Lead present at all times
  • Controlled outdoor environment
  • Pre-approved fuel and equipment only
  • Strict safety protocols
  • Assigned spotters for each performer

Supervised light is a privilege, not a guarantee. Safety and readiness determine progression.

Performance Approval

Dancers who complete supervised light and demonstrate consistent safety awareness may be approved for fire performance at FN&TT-vetted venues and events. Approval includes:

  • Technique evaluation
  • Safety knowledge assessment
  • Prop-specific competency
  • Understanding of venue requirements
  • Fire Safety Lead sign-off

Safety Culture

FN&TT maintains a strict, non-negotiable safety culture. Fire is never treated as a prop — it is an element. Our dancers commit to:

  • Respect for the element
  • Clear communication at all times
  • Accountability to the team
  • Continuous learning and training
  • Supporting fellow dancers
  • Zero tolerance for unsafe behavior

No performer may burn without a designated Fire Safety Lead present. No exceptions.
